Derona King
Coordinator
Derona came to citizen advocacy in 1993 as the associate coordinator with Atlanta Citizen Advocacy. After taking time off to home-educate her three children, she has returned to Citizen Advocacy as lead coordinator of Citizen Advocacy of Atlanta & DeKalb.
She brings to this work a commitment and passion that is born out her Christian faith. Derona views Citizen Advocacy as a very practical way to live out the ideals echoed by Jesus of “Loving our neighbor as ourselves.” He taught that each of us has a personal responsibility for our neighbor’s well-being and should respond out of that sense of responsibility to address our neighbor’s needs, not superficially, but as a genuine act of selfless sacrifice.
Derona’s other passions are Carl, her husband of twenty-eight years, and their three children Jazmine, Jane, and Jacob.
