     A Tybee Sunrise

Gathered in sacred embrace, while hearts long for deep connection

Hushed early morning whispers lurk, as we move out of shadows toward a dark grey sky

Our longing for light draws us to the shoreline, our quest for Beauty insists on our vigilant watching

Someone whispers "I wonder will it break through and dazzle us, or will we have to settle for shadows."

Mystery winks back as a driven red sliver breaks across a field of water

Silence deepens, breath can be heard, while the music of gentle waves holds us in a shimmering moment of ecstasy

Now the sky is slowly flaming, fragments of conversations about Beauty become Lauds

Reluctantly we move toward the Day, knowing that the ecstasy of the light that bathes us will fall across children's shadows in Bagdad

We move toward our neglected hearts

Warmed by Beauty, Awakened by Silence, Illuminated by Light.
