On a sunny spring morning Ray and Tait enjoyed a short hike and a long talk in Stone Mountain park. This was the second time they had met but it was just the beginning of a relationship full of breakfast get togethers, supportive phone calls, and exploring what a real home entails. Over the last twenty years Ray has lived in a variety of places, but none of them were a home.
A few months before the two guys met, Ray had finally gotten the opportunity to move into his own apartment, but he still felt like a country boy lost in the city. Starting that morning Ray and Tait decided together they would take the journey to explore how Ray could turn his apartment into a home. They talked about how it is important to have a key and lock the door to keep Ray’s things safe, the importance of tracking his monthly spending so bills get paid and the kitchen is stocked with food, and all the things that Ray wanted to fill his apartment with that would make it perfect.
Since that day they have found ways to fill Ray’s apartment not just with furniture, but with the warmth and the pride of a real home.
